Year 5/6 Thanksgiving Celebration
As part of their ‘Stars and Stripes’ topic, Years 5 and 6 have been learning about the history and traditions of Thanksgiving in the USA. On Thursday 24th November, the two year groups celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast prepared by Mrs Pearson. The children were able to try a range of traditional American dishes including: sweet potato casserole, apple pie, turkey and cranberry sauce, buttermilk biscuits and sweet tea. Many found that sweet potatoes and marshmallows made a surprisingly tasty accompaniment to turkey. The children also made Thanksgiving turkeys as they reflected on things in their lives that they are thankful for.
Tastiest food results:
Apple Pie - 32
Turkey - 19
Buttermilk Biscuits 18
