Hayes School - Geography
The journey to and from school, which your children make every day, shopping trips, holidays, even the weather ensure that they begin school with some geographical knowledge. It is our aim to build on that by investigating places and themes which allow the use of appropriate skills and language. Children study places within the UK and the wider world. Opportunity is given to use a range of plans, maps, photographs and other source material. Children also undertake 'field work' using a range of instruments.
The physical and human influences which affect the environment are set in a variety of contexts, enabling children to ask questions, collect information and present their findings in the most appropriate way. In pursuing programmes of study for geography our children become more aware of their ever changing world and begin to understand how and why those changes take place.
