Design and Technology encourages children to become autonomous and creative problem-solvers, individually as well as part of a team. Pupils will learn how to take risks, become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. It enables them to identify needs and opportunities and to respond by developing ideas and making products and systems. Through this subject, children will combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetic, social and environmental issues, as well as functions. Children will reflect upon and evaluate present and past products, their uses and their impacts. They will also study past and present designers, engineers and architects.
