Hayes School - Orapa
Orapa is Hayes Schools African instrument and marimba band, which was originally formed in 2000.
They take their name from a town in Botswana where the instruments were purchased from. They have been highly successful and have played at many prestigious venues.
All children in year 6 are taught to play (making us the only school in Great Britain to do this) and all participate in concerts, shows and festivals both locally and nationally where Orapa is always a popular attraction.
The band is conducted and led by Mr Boys, who with the help of several dedicated other members of staff has given the children this unique opportunity as well as providing a group that is both popular and talented.
