1940s & 50s
During the late 1930s and into the 1940s Hayes School did their bit to support British forces fighting in WWII.

After the War it was very much business as usual at the school, with classes in Needlework and Basketmaking for the girls and the perfomance of many a school production, a trend still at the school today, as year 6 usually perform an end of year show before they leave for their various secondary schools.

On 19th July 1950 saw the opening of Hayes School's sports field by Mrs Flemans - Vice Chairman of the Primary School Managers. Parents were also present at a House Sports Meeting on the field where activities took place to mark the occassion. The field is still used today for sports and other activities and is a valuable asset of the school.
