Year 4 show, February 2017: Tom and the Magic Violin
This year saw the welcome return of a Year 4 show. It was decided that the show should be one that Year 4 enjoyed performing three years ago - Tom and the Magic Violin - especially as the show encompasses several of the school's Core Values, including friendship, aspirations and success.
Auditions were completed in the first week of the half term and then it was just five weeks of afternoon rehearsals. As well as developing acting skills, there were lots of lines to be learnt and several really fun pieces of choreography - including a hoe-down and a UV ghost dance!
As with all performances, the confidence the children gained will prove a valuable life skill. But, it's the sheer enjoyment on the children's faces that remind all who saw the show how important the performing arts are.
